Purab Kohli, known for his philanthropy, has been actively involved with social causes such as Animal welfare, the welfare of under privileged women and children, and low cost housing projects. The Rock On actor firmly believes that compassion and humanity are most important and must be shown not only in words, but also through actions. This philosophy is the driving force behind Purab’s philanthropic initiatives. Even today, he continues to be a part of Toy Bank in the role of a Mentor since early 2009. Toy Bank is a non-profit organisation which focuses on the betterment of underprivileged children’s lives by providing toys to all children spreading a feeling of joy. Toy Bank aims to bring a smile to all children through this initiative and its vision is to create a world where children have a happy and healthy childhood. Just a day after Children’s Day, November 15th 2014, Toy Bank celebrates its 10th Anniversary, a precious milestone in this wonderful journey of happiness.
Talking about his philanthropic activities, Purab expresses, “Some of the groups I work with do such amazing work that I often wonder why these people aren’t paid top notch salaries? Why do they have to go around asking people for money when their work is focused towards the betterment of societies? They fill in the gap and think and execute areas that governments over look or are too busy to notice. My contributions towards them are minuscule compared to what change, these people bring about in the lives of so many.
The actor further adds, “I worry about what happens to the future of a child whose childhood is stolen away with the absence of play. Children understand one language very well and that is the language of play. Something we adults tend to forget as we grow older. I believe the world will be a much better place if we all have room for a little play. Toybank works very hard towards bringing that play back into the lives of under-privileged children. By volunteering with them I feel like they bring back some in my life too.”
